At least in mine I have sought to strike a balance. The most accurate CRT Shaders available today require as much brightness as possible in order to work properly. That takes a lot of brightness and I have calibrated them to match how my displays are setup. These aren't your ordinary CRT Shader Presets as they push the limits of CRT Mask Strength in order to get things looking even more CRT-like. On another screen I used them on I also had to adjust the gamma until they looked right. They look fine on my screen but I have my backlight set to 100. If a preset looks dark on your screen, there are several easy ways in which you can adjust the brightness to suit your particular display or preference. Now I just need to figure out how to save the video output settings for each core so I'm not constantly switching between aspect ratios and scaling!Įdit: Oh, and I use slangp shaders because I'm playing on my Mac M1 mini with the Metal video driver.ĬyberLab Mega Bezel Death To Pixels Shader Preset Pack is a continuously evolving project. I just liked how it made some GBA games look "dreamy." You could use the shader without motionblur, really just whatever you like. You just have to find a nice balance between the degree of the pixel visibility and squinting at the screen because the game screen is so small. Like the others said, GBA games were meant to be played on a handheld console with a small screen. Depending on your screen's real estate, the higher the number is, the more visible the pixels become. You could set the Windowed Scale to any number, it's really just a matter of personal preference. The end result was incredibly pleasing to my eyes.īuilding on this knowledge, I set mGBA's Windowed Scale to 6.0x, Aspect Ratio > 3:2, and applied the lcd-grid-v2-GBA-color-motionblur.slangp shader.ģ:2 because GBA's resolution is 240x160. So I set Windowed Mode > Windowed Scale > 5.0x (personal preference), Scaling > Aspect Ratio > 8:7, and applied the CRT-Royale shader. I learned that the aspect ratio of SNES is 8:7 (resolution is usually 256x224 square pixels). TL DR, I've been obsessed with finding and maintaining the best settings for each core since.yesterday. Came across this thread on Google while searching for the best GBA shaders.
